Youth Sunday is this Sunday. If you are involved in the service please come at 8:00am. Don't forget to set your clocks foward.

If you are in the band we have practice at 7 on Thursday.

Sunday Night our lesson will be "Why Sex is Worth Waiting For"

Jr. High

This week we will be working at church. Making bag lunches for people downtown Grand Rapids. We will also be putting together bags for our Backpack Buddies program.

Next week we are going to play laser tag. The cost is $9.50. That includes 2 games, 8 tokens, and free pop.

We will leave at 6:10 and be back about 8:15.

Update for Jan 30

Hello all you Hooligans
Here is a quick update for Jan 30.

Jr. High: sledding this Wednesday Night we are leaving the church at 6:30 so don't be late. We will be back right around 8.

Sr. High: Super Bowl Party this week at Matt and Jess' house. Come at 6 stay until the game is done. Bring a snack to share or something to drink. We will provide the pizza and the meatballs (for Mitchell). Feel free to invite as many friends as you want.

Spaghetti Dinner, be here to help between 3:30 and 4. Wear a white shirt and khaki or black pants.

Don't forget we also have a coffee hour this Sunday so make sure to bring something for people to eat.

Update for Jan. 17

I hope that each of you are enjoying the new year. Our youth group calendar are loaded with activities so here is an update letting you know about just a few of the things going on.

It has been a while since I gave a recommendation on a CD or a book. But you need to go out and buy the CD Mockingbird buy Derek Webb and the book irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne. Warning they will change the way you think about a lot of life, but in a good way.

Jr. High
Tonight at Jr. High we will be going over the new calendar for Jr. High and why we are doing this a little different.

Next week, Jan. 24, we are going to go visit some shut ins from our church. Shuts Ins are people who are not able to leave there house or don't get all that often. So we are going to go visit them because God calls us to love our neighbors and we have a lot to learn from them. So please join us as we go out and try to brighten someone's day.

Jan 31-Sledding bring a friend to join us.

We have a lot going on in the coming weeks.

Jan. 21 we are going sledding. Meet at church at 6pm we will head to Johnson Park. We will come back to church about 7:45 get some snacks and go over some annoucements. We should be done by 8:00pm.

Jan. 28 We will be going to Hope College to "The Gathering". I hope that you will join us for this great time of worship, it is exciting to worship along side 1000 college students. We will leave at 7PM. One van will arrive back at church at 9;30 for those who need to get home, the second van will get back at 11:00.

Feb. 3 Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction, please plan on helping if you are going to Philly. You will not get the fundraising money for this event if you are not there.

Feb. 4 Super Bowl Party at the Shults'. The calendar is incorrect for that day. So please come to the Super Bowl Party.

Feb. 17. Ski Trip to Caberfae Peaks, Cost $24 for lift ticket and $23 for rental. Plan on being gone all day. We are opening this up to anyone who would like to come, so if you have a friend or family that would like to come please invite them.

Feb. 23-Feb 25. Cran Hill Retreat. Cost is $80. There will be several other youth groups there. Rob Link will be doing the speaking and those of you who went to this retreat 2 years ago know what a great speaker he is. Feb. 11 is the last day to sign up.

Whats up!!

Jr. High this week Skippy will be teaching a lesson about Purity. So come join us for the fun. Next week Skippy will be once again teaching a lesson. Our topic will be "Blessed to be a Blessing"

This week we talked about "Jesus the Revolutionary" we used Matthew 25:31-46. Remember that Jesus didn't just come to be a nice guy or to be the "Lord of Safety and Comfort" he came to change the world.

This week we will be talking about "Jesus the Peacemaker"
